Laser Hair Removal in Miami: Real Costs, Real Sessions, Real Talk

August 14, 2026·11 min read

Laser hair removal is one of those treatments where the marketing has gotten so aggressive that it's actually harder to tell what a good deal looks like than what a bad one does. In Miami especially, you'll see clinics offering "unlimited packages" for a few hundred dollars, single sessions for $19, and Groupons that promise permanent results in three visits.

Here's how laser hair removal actually works at Manhattan Laser Spa, what the honest pricing looks like across body areas, and what to know about the machine before you book anywhere.

Why the Machine Matters More Than the Price

Every clinic will tell you they use "the latest laser." What actually matters is the specific device and its wavelengths. We use the Candela GentleMax Pro — a dual-wavelength system that pairs a 755nm Alexandrite laser with a 1064nm Nd:YAG laser.

That combination matters for one reason: it's the only setup we've found that safely and effectively treats every skin tone from Fitzpatrick I (very fair) to Fitzpatrick VI (very dark). In Miami, where our client base includes essentially every skin tone that exists, that's not a nice-to-have — it's the difference between clean results and burns, hypopigmentation, or wasted sessions.

Cheaper clinics often run single-wavelength diode lasers or older IPL systems. These work fine for light-to-medium skin with dark hair, but they can seriously damage darker skin and struggle with lighter or blonde hair. If you're being offered laser hair removal at $19 a session with no discussion of your skin type, that's your answer about what machine they're running.

What Laser Hair Removal Costs at Manhattan Laser Spa

Our pricing is per body area and per number of sessions. Most areas need 6 to 8 sessions for maximum permanent reduction, spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart depending on the body area.

Single Session Pricing (by area)

AreaSingle Session
Lip, chin, sideburns, hairline, jawline (each)$149
Underarms, bikini line, belly, forehead$189
Full face, brazilian, chest, back (half), full stomach, buttocks, lower legs$249
Full arms, full back, full legs$499 – $599

6-Session Package Pricing (the smart way to buy)

Because you'll almost certainly need multiple sessions, packages of 6 are dramatically better value than paying per session:

Area Size6-Session Package
Medium areas (bikini line, lower legs, half arms)$499
Large areas (full legs, full arms, brazilian, full back)$599
Full legs + feet + bikini line combo$777
Full legs + feet + brazilian combo$849
Full body — 7 parts$2,499
Full body — head to toe$2,999

Full-body head-to-toe means face, arms, legs, underarms, bikini area, torso — everywhere. It's the treatment plan for clients who want to be done with shaving and waxing permanently.

How Many Sessions Will You Actually Need?

The industry standard is 6 to 8 sessions, but the honest answer depends on:

  • Hair color: darker hair responds faster than lighter or gray hair, which may need extra sessions or a different treatment
  • Skin tone: lighter skin with dark hair is the fastest-responding combination
  • Body area: face and bikini often need 8–10 sessions because of hormonal hair regrowth; legs and back typically complete in 6
  • Hormones: PCOS, pregnancy, and menopause can slow results or trigger regrowth

By session 3 or 4 you'll notice hair growing back thinner and slower. By session 6, most clients are down to occasional stray hairs. After a full course, expect 85–95% permanent reduction with occasional maintenance touch-ups every year or two.

What to Expect During a Session

Sessions are quick — small areas like the upper lip take about 5 minutes; full legs take about 30 to 45 minutes. The machine has a built-in cooling system that fires cold air before, during, and after each laser pulse, which makes the sensation more of a rubber-band snap than a burn.

You'll wear protective goggles. You may see wisps of smoke and smell burning hair — that's the point. Post-treatment, the area may look mildly red for a few hours, similar to a light sunburn. You can shower, exercise, and go about your day — just avoid direct sun on the treated area for a couple of days.

Preparing for Your First Session

  • Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment. The laser targets hair below the skin — anything above the skin is just fuel that increases the risk of burning.
  • No waxing, plucking, or threading for 6 weeks beforehand. These pull the hair from the root, which is exactly what the laser needs to target.
  • No tanning or heavy sun exposure for 2 weeks before. This includes self-tanner. Tanned skin can't be safely treated.
  • Skip retinoids and exfoliants on the treatment area for a week beforehand.

Who Isn't a Good Candidate?

Laser hair removal doesn't work on:

  • White, gray, or truly blond hair (no pigment for the laser to target)
  • Very fine "peach fuzz" (vellus hair)
  • Tattoos in the treatment area (the laser targets pigment — tattoo ink included)

We'll usually recommend against booking if you're pregnant, currently taking Accutane (or within the last 6 months), or actively suntanned. In those cases we'll suggest waiting until conditions are right.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does laser hair removal cost in Miami?

Legitimate pricing in Miami ranges from about $150 to $650 per session depending on body area. Package pricing (typically 6 sessions) offers meaningful savings — small areas start around $499, large areas around $599, and full-body packages run $2,499 to $2,999. If a clinic advertises significantly below these ranges, ask what machine they're using and who's operating it.

Is laser hair removal safe for darker skin tones?

Yes — with the right laser. The 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength on the Candela GentleMax Pro is specifically designed for safe treatment of Fitzpatrick skin types IV, V, and VI. Older diode lasers and IPL systems are not safe for darker skin and can cause hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, or burns.

How many sessions do I need for permanent results?

Most areas need 6 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart. Face and bikini often need 8 to 10 because of hormonal regrowth. After a full course you can expect 85–95% permanent reduction with occasional annual maintenance.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

With the GentleMax Pro's built-in cooling, most clients describe it as a quick rubber-band snap. Sensitive areas like the upper lip and bikini can feel sharper. It's meaningfully less painful than waxing.

What's the difference between IPL and laser hair removal?

IPL uses broad-spectrum light and generally requires more sessions with less permanent results. True laser hair removal (like the Candela GentleMax Pro) uses precise wavelengths matched to hair pigment and offers meaningfully better long-term results and safety across skin tones.

Can I do laser hair removal on Brazilian and get results?

Yes. Brazilian is one of the most commonly treated areas and responds well. Because of hormonal influences in that region, expect 8 to 10 sessions rather than the standard 6 for full results.

How soon before an event should I do my first session?

Ideally 3 to 6 months. You need time for at least 2 to 3 sessions to see visible thinning, and you'll want to space treatments properly. Same-week last-minute treatment isn't a good idea because the area will be slightly red immediately after.

Do I have to be hair-free between sessions?

You should shave between sessions, but no waxing, plucking, or threading — these pull the hair follicle out, which is what the laser needs to target. Shaving cuts the hair above the skin without disturbing the follicle.
