What is Ultherapy Skin Tightening and How much Does it Cost?

As we age, collagen loses its strength and Ultherapy starts a natural process to produce fresh, new collagen that provides support to our skin — resulting in tighter, smoother, and more youthful looking skin.

If your goal is to slim, tighten and lift an area like the chin, neck, brow, and décolleté then Ultherapy is the perfect non-invasive solution to achieve more firmness in these areas.

So What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a noninvasive skin rejuvenating and tightening treatment that uses short laser pulses for less pain. The greatest benefit of Ultherapy is that it’s a painless application that doesn’t even require any topical numbing cream.

Ultherapy is one of our most popular treatments here at Manhattan Laser Spa because it requires little to no downtime and the treatment takes around 45 minutes to one hour.

It has 30 FDA-approved uses, from reducing acne to rosacea.

Benefits of Ultherapy Treatment

Ulthera can give you some of the benefits of getting a surgical facelift without invasive surgery and it doesn’t require you to take time away from work.

Here are a few other benefits of Ultherapy:

  • Builds new collagen
  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Passes the surface of the skin to deliver the right amount of ultrasound energy at the right depths and temperature
  • Produces natural-looking results

What is the Ultherapy Process like?

Right before the procedure, our certified medical technician will start the Ultherapy process by cleaning the areas that will be treated, getting rid of any residue on the skin.

Next, we will apply a gel that we will use with an ultrasound viewer.

Finally, our technician will place the device against the skin and Ultherapy will begin.

As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you may feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, stimulating the collagen-building process. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.

How Does Ultherapy Actually Work?

Ultherapy uses sound wave energy to penetrate the muscle of the area you’re treating, just like the way ultrasound imaging works during pregnancy.

The machine has multiple attachments used to allow for superficial, medium, and deep penetration. It causes the muscle to contract and shrink, which aesthetically results in a firming, wrinkle-smoothing, and contouring effect.

According to Ulthera, the company behind Ultherapy, the treatment “bypasses the surface of the skin to deliver the right amount of ultrasound energy at the right depths and the right temperature. This energy triggers a natural response under the skin, jumpstarting the regenerative process that produces fresh, new collagen.”

Ultherapy Treatment Areas: The Chin and Neck

Jowls, a double chin and a turkey neck are a few common signs of aging, which makes Ultherapy a great option for people who have looked in the mirror and noticed some jowliness or a bit of sagging in their necks, but who aren’t ready for a full facelift.

Ultherapy Treatment Areas: The Upper Chest

Ultherapy is the only skin tightening treatment that’s FDA approved for use on the upper chest, or decolletage. Just as Ultherapy helps stimulate the production of collagen in the dermal layer on the face, it does the same on the chest area. The newly produced collagen helps to smooth the skin, providing an additional level of support beneath the epidermis.

Ultherapy vs. Laser Treatments and Surgery

Both are advanced technologies that use different types of energy to treat different depths of tissue. They can be used in combination to create a more youthful appearance by treating both the deep and superficial layers of our face.

Ultherapy targets the tissue under the skin, while lasers use light energy and cannot penetrate the deep tissues. Ultherapy does stimulate your natural collagen production and tightens the tissue from brow to neck with no downtime. Ultherapy is a great option for anyone who wants a fresher look without surgery and downtime because the results from Ultherapy are less aggressive and more subtle than surgical correction.

Who is Ultherapy for?

Ultherapy is ideal for patients who would like to correct mildly sagging skin or tighten up areas of the skin where they’re starting to notice lines and wrinkles.

The ideal person for Ultherapy is someone who does not need a facelift but wants some minor improvements done. It can also be used as a preventive treatment to slow down the natural aging process.

Are there Any Side Effects of Ultherapy?

Some patients have experienced a tingly numbness that lived just underneath the treated area, as well as some swelling and inflammation. It’s common for patients to experience redness or flushing of the skin immediately after treatment, but that’s about it. You can immediately get back to your usual routine after your Ultherapy treatment.

Ultherapy Before & After Results

The results from Ulthera are gradual, which means they occur over time. The results from traditional surgery are immediate, but there is the risk that you’ll be left with an unnatural appearance. Ulthera stimulates collagen production and tightens your skin gradually, leading to natural-looking results.

Just like any aesthetic treatment, results vary per person, but one thing you can always count on with Ultherapy is tighter, more rejuvenated looking skin. Some patients will experience results right after their Ultherapy treatment. Others don’t experience changes for weeks or several months, with full results taking hold by month 3 after treatment.

Patients typically come in to treat the jawline and the neck but in these Ultherapy before and after photos you’ll see a variety of improvement.

Ultherapy Results Last for Two Years

Does it work? Absolutely. Ultherapy results typically last up to two years because the treatment produces new collagen, but even with natural collagen regeneration, the skin continues to age. So it’s always a good idea to keep using skin care products that help with skin tightening and collagen production to maintain your Ultherapy results.

After two years, you may want to come in periodically for additional maintenance treatments once or twice a year. For best results from Ultherapy, the skin should not be excessively sun-damaged and should not have excessive laxity.

How to Get Better Results from Ultherapy

After making such a worthwhile investment on your skin I’m sure you’d like to maximize the results of your treatment. There are several ways to get better results from Ultherapy to make sure that your results last as long as possible:

Invest in Medical Grade Skincare

Quality skincare products will help preserve the skin’s elasticity after your Ultherapy treatment. If you continue with skincare maintenance products, your skin will be tighter, more elastic and you’ll get better results after your Ultherapy treatment.

Maintain a Healthy Diet

Eating a balanced diet rich in vitamin C and amino acids is a great way to build up the levels of collagen and hyaluronic acid in our skin.

Use Sunscreen Every Single Day

Sun damage is the most common cause of aging, so if you really want to preserve the results from your Ultherapy treatment then consider investing in quality sunscreen for your skin at least 30 spf or higher.

How Much Does Ultherapy Cost?

This non-invasive skin tightening and rejuvenating treatment usually requires several visits, with about three or four weeks in between, and Ultherapy can cost around $175-$200 per session. Ultherapy for the full face and neck can cost $5,000, Ultherapy for the lower face and neck can cost $3,800, and the décolleté can cost $2,500. Prices vary across different cities, but you can expect the range to be four figures. The good news is that you’re only going in and paying for it once.

Ultherapy costs can vary based on the patient and an Ultherapy consultation is always recommended to determine the cost of treatment. If you need Ultherapy in New York, Manhattan Laser Spa can help, just give us a call to book your free complimentary consultation.

How Many Ultherapy Treatments will you need?

There are many treatments on the market that require 6-8 sessions in order to achieve successful results, but Ultherapy® isn’t one of them.

Most patients will need only one session of roughly an hour in length. In a few cases, an additional session may be helpful to start collagen production, but this is not usually necessary.

Most patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment, depending on how much skin laxity they have and their body’s own biological response to the ultrasound and the collagen-building process. Follow-up Ultherapy treatments each year may help maintain results.
